So, I'm very fortunate to have a good deal of blukhead on a culdesac, in my backyard, where there is a lot of current.  Got a spotlight up on a flagpole that's meant to put light on the boat at night, but it does a wonderful job of attracting all kinds of life all year long, mainly early Spring through late Fall.

I won't get a chance to post an update every night, but from about this time of year till October, I'm out there almost every single night with the castnet, sabiki rigs, and/or some kind plug.

The really cool stuff comes in May/June/July, when "baby everything" shows up, and then we'll have to have a fish tank thread, but this early, it'll be mostly Perch and Stripers.

One throw with the castnet tonight.  May have to target these guys tomorrow with bait.  More fun that way.

Usually only get 1 or 2 productive throws with the net before everyone scatters.  Very efficient for a quick hit, but not ideal if I'm looking to spend some time out there.

Tonight's routine, 2 Barbie poles with a bunch of leftover bloodworm bits from today's stint out in the bay.  Standard Perch Perch hook with a bead, or little sabiki are both producing the same.

Hoping for some bigger ones, but only runts so far.  It's colder out here than I thought.  Heading back out now, will post an update if I find some worth keeping.

So tonight's weapon of choice was a rattletrap, since I've done well with those in the past.  I keep forgetting that it's not July,

and it's still rather cold out there, so after about 5 casts, I said enough with that.

Tide is still trickling in a touch, and I always do better on the outgoing, so I didn't have high hopes for the cast net, but hey, I was already out there, right?

1 throw, easy dozen fish, and unfortunately for them, tonight I kind of am in the mood to clean fish a little.

Kept the 6 biggest, and will likely make another throw or 2 around 9:00 and 9:00.

Gotta give them a chance to get the party started again in between throws.

Good thread. I look forward to the tank thread as well.

I never lived right on the water but a few blocks away. I had plenty of friends who did though and we spent most days doing exactly what you're doing. No lights just nets, light tackle and traps.

Good stuff.

I'll post updates as I get them, but it's going to be almost nothing but Perch for at least a month.  Once we get to May/June, it's a totally different story.

Joey, do you still have the tanks going? Put up some feeding time videos of you do, they were awesome.

The only thing going right now is one 40 gallon tank with a juvenile Fluke (8" maybe?), a leftover Spot who survived Striper season, and a Stickleback.

I'll get the circus back up and running probably mid-April, waiting for everything to show up in May.
