This question comes up all the time, so figured it would be good to start a thread.

I started with some of the main groups in NY, and used any updates found on their websites as being their most recent official position.

if you are a member or supporter, it’s probably a good time to give them a nudge if you suspect they might disagree with your view.

For anyone else plugged into any of these grouos, or others, including businesses, please feel free to update us. Thanks

New York Sportfishing Federation

Nothing found recently. As of 2014 supported a better than 31% reduction in harvest starting in 2015, also submitted comments to the ASFMC in support of options B2 and B3, an increase in the overall recreational size limit to 30 or 32 inches respectively.

New York Coalition for Recreational Fishing

Nothing on their website but Willie Young and successive members have came out at past hearings as being concerned about the population and being strongly in favor of more conservative management

Coastal Conservation Association

Recently posted to CCA MD Website

Striped bass are of the utmost importance to the recreational fishing community on the east coast.  Ending overfishing and stopping the decline in SSB abundance is a high priority for CCA.   Keep an eye out for more information regarding the management process, and where you can weight in to promote the conservation based management of striped bass.

Recreational Fishing Alliance

Nothing updated recently. At their home page it reads : Very successful striper spawning years, as recently as 2011 and 2015, should more than compensate for Maryland’s below-average 2016 year class.

Van Staal

Nothing on their website but rep Craig Cantelmo came out at past hearings as being concerned about the population and being strongly in favor of more conservative management
