Break the 35lb mark on an East River striper from shore on the lures I make. Come close a few times and lost some 40's but haven't been able to land em.

Also sniff out some weakfish.

Ive tried the east river (queens side) a few times but never had any luck. I might try a few more times this year.

It can be feast or famine on big fish in the river, but I'm ok with quality over quantity. It takes a lot of tides to figure out the patterns, and even then the patterns change so quickly it's hard to keep dialed in. The East River is probably the most challenging place I've ever fished, that's part of the fun though.

I hope so. I’ve tried it already for  a few hours and it’s still a disaster.

Takes a lot of practice if you're learning on your own

Get out as much as possible.  Try to get out more before work and after.  Catch more fish than last year.  Which won't take much after last years skunk fest.

The key is not to force it, let centrifugal force do the work.
