Good fishing PFD without breaking the bank. need recommendation

9 posts in this topic

I am not going to skimp on a lousy PFD, but don't want to spend more than necessary.  I will only be using the kayak in freshwater lakes and ponds.  No current to speak of, no saltwater.    Want something that will be safe, comfortable for fishing and not more money that needed..  would love to get under 75 bucks.. ideas?  around 50 would be even better but i don't want something that will be uncomfortable to fish in.

thanks for any thoughts.

I like the MTI Solaris Fishing Life Vest (90 at dicks) - however it is something that you should try on if possible - look for one that has the flotation higher up on the back so it is over the seat back.  If it is not comfortable you will not wear it.

New top brands on the auction site can be had for around half price. Which one? Like a kayak purchase, you have to try them out and make that desision.

The NRS Chinook Fishing PFD is pretty good, and sometimes is available for $80-90 on amazon

You can find pre-2019 models on clearance within your budget.

I can vouch for the Chinook.

Same here, I got myself a second one of the older model ($80)
