Mistake or not they should at least edit the online PDF Ad.

Doesn't a company that size own a copy of Acrobat?

Any customer that shows up with that ad should have gotten a BPS gift card for $25 and a hearty apology.  It was a mistake.  It was not bait and switch.  And no, nobody is going to lose 25% when buying locally unless your local guy is ripping you off.  That stuff is MAP'ed the prices are the prices.  Everyone knew this was a mistake.  Heck look at the title of this thread.

Actually, if you're nice about things, they will do that, and maybe more. The Hooksette BPS IS my local store.  In there all the time. If you actually talk to the people working there, they have a lot of knowledge, well most of them do....

I would guess that the OP went in, or called, with an attitude from the start. You won't get anywhere acting like that.

And Like Ship, you’re wrong.  The manager from the store was a gentleman and I thanked him for calling me back. I think I know why they call you one eye.

This sign was still up while I was being told at the register that they would not give me that price.  When I asked to speak to the store manager I was told "he is in a meeting." but that they would go ask him.  they came back 5 minutes later and said that he said he would not honor it.  I am very upset about this, and if they do not make this right they will have lost a customer.

Why the hell doesn’t someone that works there just take a sharpie and change the 3 to a 2.   It seems pretty shady to keep misleading customers.

Well, if it makes you at all feel better the year before last bps had a feature on their site. Well, was actually likely a bug with the commerce software (lost logic). If you loaded up your cart with $ worth of items then revisited / kept them in there. Within 2 days you would get an email with a coupon for I $30 off of $100. Then, on their site, they had $10 gift card with $70 order. I did this for months buying ammo and other stuff. So I ran with about 40% off for quite some time until there was nothing I really needed anymore.  I target on sale stuff too so was likely more than this on average.

I do hate misprints though and wonder if they were intentional used as bait. I was just at the one in Hooksett the other day but did not buy anything. Seems like certain ammo will NEVER exist on the shelf, yet,  they have it online.

They did have (maybe still have) a big sale on some Lowrance and Garmin units that was pretty extreme. Lawrence with a 9" and one with a 12 for cheap.

Whatever Chris. Same goes for you with suppositions my Socialist Liberal Friend who says they are Conservative.

In a Socialist culture, we wouldn't be having this conversation because the State would have clearly defined what the standard was. As a conservative, you lack standing because bass pro is free to do whatever it wants in a deregulated society, which includes bait and switch. Caveat Emptor and all that.  Stop trying to have it both ways.

The other night over at BPS, I was waiting my turn near the gun counter and had a scare. Typical scenario of uneducated husband bringing in his uneducated wife to buy a gun and focussed on how cool it looked as opposed to any meaningful measure or reason. ...then started to ask something like what if she needed to kill someone and what would be best... then started to wave the gun around with the muzzle pointed in my direction. I immediately grabbed the top of it and pointed it down and corrected her saying, "oh no, you never do that". Husband gave me a why kind of look and says, "it's not loaded". Counter clerk rolled his eyes at the situation but remained quiet. Over at shooters outpost on the other side of 93 they would put you in a chokehold and walk you out the door asking you to never step foot in there again.

I have bought several guns and lots of ammo from them and will continue to shop there but over at the gun counter I want to cry with some of the trash that the store brings in. That and the stupid sweepstakes people that chase you down like you are ever going to go over and fill out that form. BPS, please replace that with a donation booth for veterans and/or some kind of meaningful charity that rotates between groups. I would much rather drop some coin on a chartiable donation than be attacked by sweeps people trying to sell me a vacation package or whatever it is they are pitching.

But I'm a conservative democrat I can have it both ways. :shaky:

Let me do a Shipwreck: ^^^^^^ "He gets it".

Hooksett NH as of tonight, still has the G3 listed on their circular.

From the State of NH:

Bait and Switch Ads

The CPA prohibits the "advertising of goods or services with intent not to sell them as advertised." This covers what is commonly called "bait and switch" tactics. The FTC defines bait and switch advertising as: "an alluring but insincere offer to sell a product or service which the advertiser in truth does not intend or want to sell. Its purpose is to switch consumers from buying the advertised merchandise, in order to sell something else, usually at a higher price or on a basis more advantageous to the advertiser. The primary aim of a bait advertisement is to obtain leads as to persons interested in buying merchandise of the type so advertised."

So I just went to a random Mass BPS stores landing page right now.  And Riddler is right.  As of this AM it is still up.  Not cool.  I have seen these mistakes made with big box national promotions with print flyers, in store POP, and digital delivery assets multiple times.  It sucks and people get fired.

While the print flyers cannot be changed, the digital and POP def can and in seconds.  I have seen those changes made double quick.  The fact they are still up is either 1. B & S, or they are in total disarray.

At this point they are in jeopardy of getting sued.

My apologies as it appears a couple of guys here had the correct instinct.  I am just baffled at how blatant this is and its not the norm.  I stand by my initial reaction as long as its a legit mistake.  I will take my 40 lashes now.

if i felt it was a legit mistake i would be understanding, but I dont.  this ad started march 4th.  the "disclaimer" they have is dated march 1st.  given that, corporate was aware of the "mistake" 3 days before the ad went into effect.  if they had no intention of honoring this ad then they had the responsibility to pull the ad before it went into effect, imo.  instead, they released the ad.  again, I can see the print ad because they are made in advance and mailed out and such.  but I cannot see how it is okay for them to not edit the description of the online ad to reflect what is really on sale and let it go into effect when they were aware days before.  Also, if the stores were aware of the wrong ad why did they put out the sale sign advertising the g3 with mega imaging after the disclaimer came out?  as I stated before, when I was in the store there was not a copy of the disclaimer on the sales floor which they.

as of 2:00 pm on saturday march 9, the online ad is still advertising the g3 with mega side imaging with no disclaimer.

Another possibility is that it was a legitimate sale to begin with but they just put the wrong 2362714 sku on the ad instead of the mega si sku 2648989 so now everybody  is all screwed up?

Calling them has them look up the ads sku so when they do, the g2 model comes up..... naturally,  they refuse you the msi g3 model they describe.....

The other thing is, the G2 doesn't list for 699 to begin with .....it lists for 499

if you're saving 200 dollars,  you'd be paying alot less than 499 for the g2.

The whole ad,  with the exception of the  wrong sku adds up to the msig3 being the sale item ...

I remember when cabelas had stella fe's for sale at like 200$........I tried to order a bunch......NEWP....typo in the ad.. wouldn't honor it.

Saw some rather cheap FE's being sold around the web the next week.....so it seems they honored a few at the least.

Looks like this one was a helluva mistake.   I didn't realize anyone other than people with gift cards even shopped at bass pro.
