And I gotta say...

I didn't expect them to be as nice as they are out of the box.

Yeah I know time will tell and all that.

I'll be doing my standard overview, analysis, tear down over the next few days.

But damn....turning the handle is not much different than some of the best out there

And I say that with a Daiwa Saltist Back Bay 4000 sitting right next to them.

Great looking.  Great drag knob.  Great handle knob options.  Stainless gearing, seals.  Unique and really nice color choices too.

I'm curious if they are available from another company under a different name like the Shield or if it's unique.  Doesn't matter either way but curious.

Which size should I tear down.

I have the

2000

3000

4000

5000

They should have chosen a better name. From the title, I though you got kicked out again from one of your spots. lol

Look like 4000 and 5000 shared the same body.  So either one is good. Aluminum reel at 12oz. I got to see that.

Try the 3000.

Im sure there will be a lot of us north east folk tog jigging with them. Stainless gears and low ratio? Probably the perfect size.

LOL.....my buddy who gave em to me had a bunch of coolers in the back of his SUV.  And of course I seized the moment and asked if he got evicted.   LOL

One thing I found already is that the 5k had a line roller assembly that wasn't screwed in all the way or was loose enough for the bail to really woble badly.  Haven't checked any of the screws yet.

These aren't sealed if I remember right.

They have seals but under the rear cap (1 small screw) exposes the internals.  No seal there oddly enough
