Both books are good. Another one is “Four Fish: The future of wild food”.

That was a great read.  But let's not forget the book that started it all, "Cod" by Mark Kurlansky.

There is a petition going on now, through the Menhaden defenders to try and slow down OMEGA from vacuuming all the bunker out of the ocean. I know links aren’t allowed here but if anyone wants to sign it and try and voice your opinion on why these fish are so important please reach out. Hope none of this is against the rules as without bunker, then we have less big fish, which is what we all want is an abundance of 50lb bass!!!! Right?

You're late to the party.  It was published in 2007.  You are right.  Every salt water fisherman should read it.

Surf fished the obx many years and read this book when it came out. Interesting side note to Omega Protein, it's majority ownership is Zapata Corp, the guys that work closely with the government. Omega's CEO is executive vice president of Zapata.

During the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis, Zapata allowed its oil rigs to be used as listening posts. In 1988, Barron's said Zapata was "a part time purchasing front for the [Central Intelligence Agency]

Don't think their extreme fishing (dredging) will ever be curbed, they are too well connected. And a CIA director, vice president and president used to own Zapata. Pretty good for business.

Omega is now owned by Cooke, a Canadian aquaculture company. They acquired Omega as a source of feed for their fish farming operations.

The cia/bush family ties are overblown and exaggerated.
