Naples March 6-16

The wife just booked our trip to visit the in-laws between March 6th and 16th. She lives in a gated complex in Naples, 4 miles from the beach. The backyard ponds are full of large mouth bass and the occasional peacocks, however I want more PEAS!!!!. Can anyone shed some Intel on peacock bass in the Naples area.

Any other freshwater Exotics will also fill the need. I have raised snakeheads in Oscars in a fish tank however catching them in nature would be quite the experience.

Thanks.....

Consider walking the canal along the road that cuts across top of the glades. Guy was using a slip bobber and chunks of ham to catch these exotics, forget the species but think 1.5 lb brim and a little bigger. He said they were primo eating. Tons of them. Watch for pesky gators and snakes. The canal was loaded with all kins of fish  and some diff exotics. Try to find where culverts are and you will see hundreds of fish stacked up.

You'll find Mayan Cichlid (thinking this is what Sun^ is talking about above ^) in just about any lake/pond/puddle around here...sort of an oscar's bigger, bully brother. At 1-1.5lb, a really great fight and, yes, surprisingly good to eat. Just about everyone will encourage you to keep 'em as they've become quite a nuisance over the years. (Not to mention--they DO look pretty cool)

Thats what they were, mayan cichlid. couldn't get them to hit anything like rooster tail or beetle spin but they would tear up that deli ham

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA---THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE USED JUST AFTER HURRICANE IRMA....so funny....with nothing to do, we walked down to the lake with ham that was going bad...that's awesome!

ok...seriously--that was funny.

I just ordered a few pea specific lures from Gill Reaper Lures from the Miami side for peas.

Spoke to the owner, hand paints all his lures. He is on the instaGram, look him up.

$9 bucks, worth a try
