Almost had to turn on the AC as the house was too hot. Fished a bit in the evening but it was very slow. Only caught two fish but beats a skunk JoelJ, Matt7082, Carol Knowles and 3 others

I am going to really target them this Jan/Feb even though they are a pain to clean! The Mad Deckhand

KnewBee
drop in temp (43) and drop in water level, but they were biting. Caught 8 bass in an hour. Mostly dinks in the 12 inch range. Got my second "tagged" bass (1 lb 8) and biggest was a 1 lb 13. Weird lil fatty that may have had too much pie over the holidays and a super aggressive little dink that bit off more than he could chew! Lost a big Chain Pick as I tried to lip grip him. bennie
mdeppen
Thanks for starting the thread KB, nice looking fish! I was fortunate to catch a large trout in the morning of New Years Day! spamming bot, stripefromshore, snag777 and 3 others
Matt7082
Found a few yesterday. A couple of bass in the 2lb range, and one that went 4lbs. Took my wife with me and she put a beating on a couple of enormous pickerel. We had a great day chucking crankbaits around in the unseasonably, but pleasantly warm temps! spamming bot, hobobob, PatFin401 and 4 others

KnewBee
Matt, sweet! love them big Picks, it is that time of year. Is that the Cypress forest at Prince? Either way, looks like an awesome spot, kind of like Stumpy. Congrats! Matt7082

If you want, go to Northwest River Park. It's the only place east of the mountains that stocks trout. Trout stamp is $23, I think? No Pups being reported. Some small specks, but been a dreadful year for Puppy drum, at least in Rudee. Matt7082

It is much like Stumpy, but about half the size, and a little bit deeper; average depth is 4'-8'. But it gets extremely warm in the summer, and the pond weed and duck weed completely lock it up. By mid August or early September, you usually can't even bring a kayak in there. But it starts receding by the end of October. spamming bot

EchoSierra
I live in the northeast (Massachusetts) and it's currently pretty cold here. I know that fish slow down for the winter, but would I be wasting my time trying to fish a pond while it's ~40 degrees out (air temp, not sure about water)? There's a pond behind the building at work and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to try fishing it in the winter. I've read reports of Largemouths, Bluegills, and catfish in that pond. I'd probably want to target the largemouths or the catfish. I'll be fishing from shore. Edited January 5, 2019 by EchoSierra john faria
jerseycat9
First trip out since my last report on here back in November I think it was. I got 2 of this exact size and one that was in tge high teens to 20lb range and one dink, i lack pictures of the other two nicer fish cause they came off when I was trying to lip them but I had them in my hands enough for me to say I caught it lol. But all in all it was a really nice to see back to back to back 10+lb fish after the dismal last couple years where a 10lb fish would have been the talk of the bait shop and it shows we are on the rebound. spamming bot, riverrunner, stripefromshore and 2 others 5 My name is Terry and I am a fisherman!
