Very nice.... I was skunked on Sunday. Sneaking out this afternoon for low tide in hopes of finding a sea run brown.  Chasing salters Sunday in the midcoast.

Stillwater trout fishing isn't quite as interesting, in my opinion, as moving water, but when the fish are this beautiful, I'm in...

Couple more yesterday. The big one was weird. It might have eaten a whitefish I hooked. Not quite sure what happened but it ended up with a #18 PT in it jaw.

After returning home to Chicago, the first few freshwater fish of the year came to hand with water temps in the 40s:

Had an incredible day last Monday out at Deckers with a buddy. Only fished 10am-2pm but we nailed em. 10 or so each, nothing smaller than 16", all healthy, all on midges no bigger than sz. 20. I forgot how challenging it is to keep this caliber of fish on the line connected to such a small fly. Lost an absolute monster on the last cast of the day - it ate and then ripped upstream in heavy current, wrapped the tippet around a rock, and broke me off. Not his first rodeo.

But last weekend, we did a little collaboration with Geoff from Brackish Flies and he got us on some really beautiful wild brook trout. Banner day in the rain. Just recorded a podcast with him for Seven Stripes, will be out soon. Really fascinating to learn about the history of wild brook trout and the streams they inhabit.

Put a lot of time in to get this science experiment too bite. 24” on 6x. Very memorable 30 minute quarter mile fight. Definitely made up for a crappy weekend of high water.
