Jack is almost putting it all together at 4 y/o.  Hoping we can get him a fish he purely caught himself before winter sets in.  Casting is there just needs a little more patience.  After a few fish on spinning all on his own fly fishing is next

Excellent.  My boys both started at 3 with their spidey poles.  The older one ( 24) is now Guide 34043 in Montana...

We started him reeling them in at 2.5 y/o its very interesting to see how certain skills needed develop as they get older.  I hope he stays interested but all I can do is make it as fun as possible and hope it sticks.  starting my daughter this fall as she is now 2.5

Got bored striking out looking for pike the last week and decided to switch it up today.  Went small river small fish.  A couple of miles in the woods for a half dozen wild fish.  There was also either a bear or Sasquatch in the woods, something was breaking branches and banging into trees within ear shot.

Couple nice smallmouth from yesterday.  I fished some new waters for me, weather sucked, but the trip itself was cool.  Saw a couple bald eagles - tried getting a picture, but it didn't really come out.

Urban fishing - not bad for a post work/class evening spot. Those cats sure put a bend in the 8 weight.

Quck run to a creek fishing was ok, tons of small bass of no size then it all fell apart when a Beaver took exception to our trespass and essentially went up and down the creek slapping his tail.  Found an interesting camp/home in the woods filing it under "weird things you find off the radar"

My dad had been sick but is finally on the mend so I took him out on a blue catfish charter.  We were fishing live gizzard shad and cut baits on conventional gear.  But in talking with the guide it sound like there might be a chance to chase them on the fly rod in the spring.  Another excuse to use the 12wt canal rod and huge shad flies.  So planning a trip March/April to give blue cats on the fly a shot.  Has anyone else tried to target flatheads or blue cats on the fly?
