Kind of fishing related.....I released it to the bbq. ;)

It ate a chartreuse over pink clouser.

Coho with garlic pepper, butter and Walla Walla sweet onion.

Found a bunch of stripers in feeder creek to estuary during a 7 mile kayaking trip.  They were in clear, skinny, mainly freshwater eating juvenile herring.  There is tons of bait all over the main estuary so I wondered why all the stripers were up here in the middle of summer.  I think the answer lies in water temperature the creek must be spring fed as it was 67-68 degrees when i took water temps.  Down by the ocean inlet water temps were around 77 degrees.   Cool discovery on vacation.

“Almost all....” - this is what greeted me when I got to the beach near first light. iPhone photos so not the greatest, and these are frames pulled from video I shot.

So, it is not everyday that you get to see a launch of an Atlas V rocket. Very cool as first stage rocket engines propel the rocket downrange and then separate. Mission details:

Date:  August 8, 2019

Vehicle: ULA Atlas V | AEHF 5

Mission: A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will launch the fifth Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite. Built by Lockheed Martin, this U.S. military spacecraft will provide highly-secure communications. The rocket will fly in the 551 vehicle configuration with a five-meter fairing, five solid rocket boosters and a single-engine Centaur upper stage.

Launch Site: Cape Canaveral Air Force Station – SLC-41

Usually I am reading fishing books or writing on my commuter time as my new job has allowed me to take the ferry or train where as before I was driving into Boston daily.  Its been great from a learning perspective to have that dedicated reading time in an otherwise busy daytime schedule.

Starting in July I decided to start a new routine: glassing for bunker and breaking fish.  I get a lot of weird looks on the top deck of the ferry, but its been a very valuable way to learn about the water.  Certain ferries are taller than others and you could not ask for a better perch to glass the water from.

It is tough seeing fish blowing up on your way to work and being unable to capitalize though LOL.
