yosco
Before it was a rule not to fish full moons, used to catch lots of fish on these and boone needles at night out on low tide bars. Those eels has great action. Anyone still fish these type regularly ?
Highlander1
The Alou Eel was one of the first worm/jig/tin squid style lure that was used more in fishing currents and around bridges and structure than actual surf fishing. Truth be known, they weren't anywhere as well built as todays versions of those lures. The Boone Needle although well liked by many started peeling paint as it was removed from the package, the hook hangers could be pulled out by a sunny. Nice to look back but vast improvements have been made since Al Reinfelder and Lou Palma revealed their arsenal. If you want to fish for nostalgic reasons you can still find them around but if your trophy hunting there are better choices. yosco
Ive heard about the hanger problem. Fished them lots when I was younger and didn't personally ever have it happen. Lot of large blues also. I agree that thick paint would come off in large chips before long. I also agree, there r better options on the market these days. The SS stuff is nearly bullet proof. Happy NY.
