Is the attached 113H a High Speed Reel and can I put wire on it for trolling bunker spoons?  Thanks in advance. I know some 113H’s say High Speed on them but this one does not.

113 H. It’s the high speed.  The low speeds are I believe 113 and are black on the side plates.

They have metal spools and you can put wire on them.  300’ of wire 50 lb and some backing.   The plenty big for stripers.   It’s the  reel of choice by a lot of charter boats.

On your trolling rods you should have carbite guides.  And a roller tip is nice

Wire will make groves in cheap guides

Crank the handle 1 rotation and see how many times the spool rotates.

Now what's the diameter of the full spool? Multiply the diameter by pi and you you have the circumference.

Multiply the circumference by how many times the spool turns and you have how much line is retrieved per crank of the handle.

"High speed" is a relative term. High speed compared to what?

High speed if your looking at the spool should be 3.3 turns on the handle.

But with the extended handle. A bit more ?

Hi, I have one. Bought mine new in the 1980's American made. The red side plates are all High speed . Tha Black plates are regular speed. Go for it on the wire. I never fished it with wire. I used mine for cod and other fish from head boats, reel was like a tractor when she reeled fish from the bottom, and pulled some real big fish with her. Just listen to the recommendations on what wire to use and make sure the rod can handle wire. Tight lines.

Correct. But it's not a modern-day high-speed it's still in the 4.xx gear vratio I do believe

So in your opinion, what are the pros and cons of having such a reel
