CNN has Trump going to prison for collusion and campaign finance violation, FOX has the Russian Collusion hoax as DOA.

With speculation running amok, what say you?

Still digesting. Sounds like campaign finance violations are a given right now... don’t know about the rest from the filings yet...

The campaign finance violation hinges on the fact/belief that Trump paid off the women to influence to the election.

Is it not perfectly reasonable that he paid off the women to try to hide the affairs from his wife?

No.

".. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.."

But you really can't.  You can't conspire to violate campaign finance laws,  you will end up being labeled an unindicted co conspirator, a felony.

Timing would dictate otherwise.   Won't fly.   Unindicted felon.

How does the timing indicate otherwise?  He paid them off when they said "we want money."  They picked the timing, not him.

Now, if you want to say they picked the election cycle, knowing they'd have more leverage, sure, that makes sense, but either way, he was still trying to hide it from his wife.

When exactly was the payment made?  What was discussed between Cohen and Trump (recorded)?   You can't seriously believe that hiding his infidelity from his wife would be a viable reason to pay of a couple of his mistresses?

Of course it's a viable reason.

Neither one is happening.

President Trump can't be indicted. He isn't going to be impeached. He might be named as an un-indicted co-conspirator on a few things ... but that hasn't happened yet either.  And it isn't a given that it will. The Trump Organization may be in hot water, at some point, for money laundering. Unless the CFO testified that Trump Knew, he's not going to be an un-indicted co-conspirator on that, either.

FOX is desperately whistling past the Elephant's Graveyard.

Further note.

Let's suppose that President Trump is named as an un-indicted co-conspirator on charges of 1) violations of campaign finance laws 2) money laundering through the Trump Organization, 3) fraudulent use of a charity 4) tax fraud, and 5) conspiring with Russian Intelligence to subvert the 2016 election.  (I rank these in descending order of probability.)

No matter what the evidence, he will retain a deep base of support. When he's out of office, would any successor actually let a prosecution go forward? I think not. As Ford did with Nixon, a successor would pardon him simply to clear his desk of a political problem that would otherwise paralyze the country until it's made to go away.

This is all idle speculation until Mueller releases his report.

I hope the House Democrats (Pelosi) are stupid and arrogant enough to try and impeach him over this.

On the one hand the comedy would be priceless.  On the other hand, the comedy would absolutely have a price tag.  They're plenty dumb enough to waste our time and money on it.

I think it's very realistic that he'll get Impeached by the House, but not removed by the Senate.

Just like Bill.
