Yesterday, I was sending an email to my female subordinates.

I typed "No problem, you guys earned it, enjoy your time off"

But before I sent it, I caught myself and changed "guys" to "ladies".

Pretty sharp, eh?

I dare say, if Billybob can get PC, you all can.

Never use gender. “You’ve” or “the team “ has earned it.  Unless you’re in the cottageville office where “y’all be” or “bitches be” earning it is acceptable.

Manager and the Law training, mandatory every 3 years where I last worked, recommended not using gender specific words as previously posted.  It's not about what you meant to say, it's all about how it was perceived.  Glad I'm retired now.

Except for the “at work” part which disqualifies most of Baltimore.

Argument at work about 7-8 years ago between a 30 year old guy and his ~40 YO female manager. As it escalated she called him a dick and an a$$-hole, he replied by calling her a bitch.   He was called to HR and fired within the hour, she got a lecture.
