FishRatz
Ok Luna (a 15ft, 2137lb great white) the last of the tagged Ocearch sharks north of Cape Cod has finally made it South of Cape Cod. The question is did she go through the Cape Cod canal?
rst3
I vote canal. Certainly possible she went around, but much less likely imo. Fishing kills me exactly as it keeps me alive. Hemingway, Old Man and the Sea

beerdoh
I vote around based on the number of sightings on the outer cape vs CCB. Also a lot more seals on outer cape. Would love to see one cruising through the ditch though...

Look at the plotted locations...20 hours prior to the MV location, Luna was just outside of the Canal a few miles north, and then earlier than that, leaving the region you say. I doubt any migration South would then turn around and head North & East to go around....where it just came from. All the GW sharks head south now. bob_G
If Luna did go through the canal, she almost certainly would fed well. There's quite a few tasty harbor seals around these days. The Sultan of Sluggo

joem
If she went the long way that would be at least 105 miles. Through the canal is still about 60 miles. Don't think you can draw any conclusions from that other than both options are possible...
BrianBM
What's the current water temperature in the area of the Canal? GWs do have some ability to generate heat above water temperature, and the bigger the shark, the greater the tolerance of cold water (at least in theory; mass will increase faster then skin area.) At 15' and one ton plus, that's a good size fish. Since this is presumably the last of the GWs in the area, more or less ... what time of year do they reappear around the Cape? Deep Hole
Water temperature this morning in canal was 43 degrees (*member formerly known as 'Johhygolf')
JRT
From that screen grab it looks like one of them drove down route 6. Smart fish.
