Nessmuk
And shutdowns always cost more than they actually save. They're a stupid way to make a point, just another's indication of a broken system. And speaking of stupid...equating government workers with the politicians making the decisions. Dumb. Dumb. How so? When one actively wishes for a shut down isn’t it fair game to call the person out?
dena
If the government does shut down, how will it negatively affect you? Seeing as essential personnel will be required to work as usual, I don't see all that much harm done. With several million folks home, it might prove a boost to the economy with them having all day to spend money. J
Let's hope that in the event there is a shut down, rather than close all the national parks (like Obama), Trump has them open the gates and makes access free for all....
zybathegeek
When politicians make a single law, a legion of bureaucrats will make at least a thousand rules to implement, administer, and enforce that one law. President Trump, cut us a break, shut it down. Politicians and diapers should be changed often and regularly, invariably for the same reason. ______________________________________________________________ "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." Maine Guide
Shut it down until the Wall gets funded. And keep them in Session until it does. This is his last chance before the Democrats take over. And, I doubt he will go out of his way to make life miserable like Barry did. Remember them fencing off the various Memorials in DC? Petulant child. *
Nessmuk
Yeah, I don't see Trump pulling that crap. He'll let it get shutdown, though. It's the only alternative they'll leave him.

PeterO
4 hours ago, J said: Seems Congress did not have the same convictions as GC As for the Mexican funding, have you read up on H.R. 7059, the 'Build the Wall, Enforce the Law Act of 2018'? https://cis.org/Report/Analyzing-HR-7059-Build-Wall-Enforce-Law-Act-2018 The Hill reported: Republican senators have introduced legislation to fully fund President Trump’s request of $25 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall. “The WALL Act would fully fund the border wall by closing existing loopholes that provide illegal immigrants with federal benefits and tax credits, without affecting the benefits and tax credits used by Americans,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said in a statement on Thursday. To pay for the border wall, the Republicans propose to crack down on benefits for undocumented immigrants, including requiring that parents have a Social Security number to claim refundable tax credits, requiring any welfare applicants to prove they are a citizen and increasing minimum fines on individuals who cross the border illegally or overstay visas. “If you want to receive food stamps and other benefits, then you should prove your citizenship. If you cross the border illegally or overstay your visit to this country, then you should pay a stiff penalty,” Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) added. In addition to Kennedy and Cruz, the bill was introduced by Sens. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.). So your highlighted portion basically says the wall will be fully funded with money currently being stolen from us by stopping the thievery. Could they work the language to state that the money is being stolen by Mexicans, therefore Mexico is paying for the wall? Only the Trumpets could be gullible enough to swallow that logic. If the sponsors really believe they can recover $25 billion that’s being lost through fraud, why don’t we just do that NOW?
