Southcoastphil
Wow. Some pretty tech tech tips here I just mark them on top with slashes and dots, like I do with most of my plugs. Slash= 1 oz dot = 1/4 oz I don’t need anything more accurate than that. smellfish
I think manufacturers should start by getting the weight right ... if you weigh a one once jig it can range greatly among brands. Purity of lead contributes but not the only issue. YES weight should be molded in. Don't stop ... Retrieving ...

I used to use Sharpie markers, but I found that the marks smeared easily (even after I'd let them dry for an hour or more) when I applied the top coat of Hard as Nails clear polish. Now I use "Paint Markers". Let the marks dry for an hour or so, then gently apply a single thin coat of nail polish, then another in 15 minutes. Great idea and simple! What are you using to mark them? Nail polish?
looney tunes
The molded head is just the beginning. Different metals, different hooks, fullness/sparseness of the tie, and different trailer resistance all factor in not only the total weight but the way the lure will react while in the water. If I mark my jigs at all it's to tell me which ones have rattles or UV paint.
