Radical truth telling

Trump may very well be the most exaggeration prone president ever, but ironically also one of the most radical truth tellers of all times when it come to big truths. From Saudi Arabia to the 9th Circuit judges, he says things that everyone knows are true and nobody with any political ambition would ever say.. Ironically, urbane, respected, intellectuals, like Justice John Roberts contradict him with platitudes that are positive, upbeat, and at the same time, absolutely false.

Staying away from the Trump side of that discussion, is it likely that this may be a moment in history that people no longer accept silly, patently false, platitudes just because they make people feel good.

Taking that to the next level.......

Much of our social policy is based on silly, nonsensical beliefs that are only accepted because we want people to feel good, at the expense of the truth. When do start demanding that our political and cultural leaders start telling the truth? When do we stop punishing people for having opinions that are perfectly logical and based in objective facts?

When tactics like political correctness and accusations of racism have well and truly jumped the shark.

I would think that we passed that point a few years ago. How long have we've been seeing blatantly false claims become part of national stories and then unquestioningly incorporated into the folklore

Seriously?   Trump lies about 10 - 15 times a day!   And you just suck it all up.    Pathetic.

A lot of what he says turns out to be true,no matter what spin the left twirl into it.

A lot of what he says are outright lies.  Cannot spin it any other way.  Pathological liar.

Trump is a truth teller?!?!? Good god. No. Absolutely not.

So, the fact that we're going to do business with the Saudi's even though they murder their political opponents because of our business interests, or 9 circuit judges render opinions based on their political dispositions, are untrue because.......?

If you want to be taken seriously, at least have a counter argument

And he says things that nobody would ever admit were true. He may be the first and the last president ever to do that.

He countered with Trump is a liar. Except in the 2 instances you mentioned. Because they are both the truth.

So many are living in their comfortable realm, which is fine. Many don't want their applecarts upset, which is fine too. But true politicians, the career kind, are not without thier own agenda. This leads to all sorts of deception and corruption. Many turn a blind eye to the negativity because it doesn't affect them.

Mr. Trump isn't one of them.

"With all that being said though, we have $450 billion, $110 billion of which is a military order, but this is equipment and various things ordered from Saudi Arabia, $450 billion," Trump said. "I think it's over a million jobs. That's not helpful for us to cancel an order like that. That hurts us far more than it hurts them."

lies.
