Favorite Picture for 2018

Last year I did a post asking people to pick one photo from 2017 that was special to them for any number of reasons to them. I am again asking if folks would do that again, It is easy for me to find the picture I want to post because I save all my photos in a folder of pictures I post on SOL on a yearly basis, They are simply titled SOL2018 so when I open that folder I can scroll through all the pictures of the year to find the one I want to use.

I am asking for one, two at the most, these are the two that I will use for this year. The first is my one and only Black Drum I caught of the beach that I sight fished. Not many Drum caught on the beach on Sanibel so for me this fish was special. The secondis for obvious reasons, my last Striper of the yeat after I was finally able to get out for one last try with the help of some very good and special friends.

BFD, you didn't say they had to be fishing pix, and frankly my season was pretty bad. So this one is my youngest granddaughter with new pup. Neither usually sits still for very long so this one was special for me!

Of course my favorite picture of the year would have to be the one of the largest Snook I have caught to date, taken on Longboat Key in Florida.

I never get tired of catching native Brooktrout regardless of size.

Sorry to overdo it, but I really can’t choose a single one, or even two. None are especially great pictures, but the memories were significant.

-The first was taken in Roatan. That was my first permit.

-The second was a fish I caught on May 15. First good fish on a new setup, but also the first good fish of the season.

-The next two were caught while sight-fishing a shallow cove from the boat. The fish were so picky, but I got several to eat. Probably one of my best memories of the year.

-Last one was from the winter. I started using the fly rod for trout and became addicted to sight fishing for them. They would cruise along the shore in 1 to 3 feet of water, usually in pairs or small groups. Challenging, but it was a blast.

My daughter came in for a visit this past spring and we had a very enjoyable and successful morning fishing

Two from me. Neither spectacular to anyone else but me.

First is of my very first striper. Yes it's very small but it's a special fish for me because it was the point where everything I'd read about and seen in pictures finally came to life in my hands. I don't get the chance to fish saltwater often, and it's something I have relatively little experience in so for me to go out with no real experience to a place which seemed alright and just happen to get lucky meant a whole hell of a lot to me.

This is one of my fondest fishing memories. Two or three solid hours of catching stripers on every cast. Not big fish but I've never ever had fishing like that it my life and it was like a midnight dream come true. Sharing it with a new (at the time) friend made it all the sweeter. I still dream about it at times both day and night.
