Discussion of Historic 2018 Elections: Another Republican Revolution?

What do you think history will say of the 2018 elections?

I think when historians look back on 2018, this year will be talked about like the 1994 Gingrich Revolution when the Republicans surged into control of the House and inaugurated an era of increasing partisan gridlock in the federal government and increasing polarization among the electorate, along with mostly Republican rule in Congress. Like 1994, the revolution actually started 2 years earlier but it didn't hit people in the face until two years later.

The nature of the 2018 Republican Revolution stems from the McConnell Rule (we now live in the McConnell Rule Era) which I think this election pretty much confirms is a very real thing. No SCOTUS nominee for any POTUS unless their party holds the USS. It's apparent that the GOP success in Senate races this year was largely due to GOP voters viscerally realizing that the McConnell Rule was actual--thanks to the way the Dems handled the Blasey-Ford allegation(should have leaked it way way earlier to prevent GOP operative, probably, from leaking it at the very end). The era of the conservative-moderate Red State Democrat is now ended, Manchin being the exception which proves the rule.
