Trying to ween myself off bait and onto lures for the spring spawn.   Almost everyone uses bait and few use rubber shad on jigheads.  Anyone try bucktails?   Any spots you guy like, not specific places, but creek inlets, points on islands, etc....

I have yak fished the Henry Hudson above the new bridge march-April for many years. Its marine fish returning to their FW roots to do only one thing-spawn! I've seen fishfinder screens solid with fish but they won't touch any artificial. Thats when bloods or herring may work. Pick the right color lure or rubber bait and its non stop catching. Its feast or famine by me, and after a few weeks the spawning fish disappear upriver to the headwaters.

If anyone could do it, RJ could. Or at least get someone to ghost it for him. Haven't heard him on here lately, hope everything's ok?
