Bohemian Rhapsody movie...

saw the Freddy Mercury biopic last night, really fun movie worth seeing if you're a fan...they managed to keep the ghey to a minimum, couple of dude kisses was about it...the music was all Freddy singing, no Freddy impersonations thankfully...the Live Aid concert scene at the end was killer...

Sounds like they made the movie the right way and have been looking forward to seeing it.

There's still a part of me that really wanted to see Sacha Baron Cohen play the lead though.

I'll see it when it hits cable next Spring.

I listened to Cohen on Stern about why he pulled out. The band didn’t want to see the ghey.  They wanted to see the band.

I like Malek since the HBO show The Pacific.

What kind of homo do you have to be to have an opinion on who plays the lead?

Wife and daughter saw it yesterday and loved it.

The lead is a great actor.  He's the lead in Mr. Robot, who from the very open reminds my wife and I of our son.  So, that kind of homo.

Initially Cohen was selected,  I'm a fan of the first season of Mr. Robot and thought  Rami Malek was the second best choice for the role of Mercury.   He's a great actor but if I'm a casting director for this vehicle I'd have chosen Cohen only with the bands blessing.

After a little more research SBC left because of artistic disagreement and was originally approved by Brian May.   SBC wanted to do an Adult-oriented script (R rated) and the band wanted a family version to carry on with Freddie's legacy.   This makes sense from a bands perspective to continue to drive their music sales.

I would prefer a more honest gritty approach to how history really was for the band as a whole and not a homogenized watered down version for the studio to put kids in the theaters.

I didn't know Howard Stern was in the movie.
