GOP pollster Frank Luntz was on Howie Kurtz's Fox Media show this morning. Luntz said he has less faith in polling as a predictive indicator than ever in his career. He said anyone making projections or assumptions on the election based on polling is doing so at their peril.

He was especially questioning on how anyone could create a turnout model based on polls this cycle. He said some states look like they will have turnout approaching presidential election years. He said others look average for a midterm cycle.

He went on to say that the only thing polling might do is help contruct narratives of what occurs AFTER the election.

He the finished the interview talking about the lack of civility in our current political discourse. How he has not seen a mixed group in this cycle that has not devolved to raised voices and shrill tones. That people have lost the long held sense of decorum he’s seen in the past.

He had a great line: People are choosing their information sources to "confirm", not "inform". The confirmation bias has replaced a seeking of alternative viewpoints.

Amen.

Well, one side has adherents that are consistently more vocal and brazen about voicing their extreme displeasure for opinions that differ from their own.  its been growing, spreading, and has been empowered (or powered) in large part by media sources.

Not a day goes by that I am not confronted by a Left wing SJW-type from the left giving me an earful about how bad X, Y, or Z are.  It used to be that you didnt discuss your sex life, religion, or politics at work.   No longer.
