Weighing the nose is the way to go, most of the action comes from the joints behind it so it’s barely effected. I’ve done this to the floaters before when slow sinking 7” ones were unavailable

yes,i load both the MS and stick shads with up to an ounce of lead.the MS the front portion is were the lead is placed.after i place the desired extra weight in i squeeze in gorilla glue to hold the lead in place,making sure the lead is evenly distributed.you then epoxie the hole

I've seen your weighted swimmers, John, as well as the fish you've caught with them.

 

I'll be loading up some of mine with this approach over the winter.  I'll also test a few MSs with say 80% of the lead shot in the front section and the remainder in the middle section (before gluing, of course).
