Those magdarters working for you lately bay?

I remember you've done well with them in the past.

Waiting for things to turn on, the bait is there, just waiting for the fish to find it. The old school bronze is a good choice too.

There must be dozens of threads on this. The lists haven't changed in 20 years with the exception of the advent of the mag darter. Rubber, bucktail, metal, minnow swimmer, popper in some combination. Plus mag darter.

I'll play along

1 bucktail hands down

2 redfin/bomber/sp

3 darter mag/ss/bm

4 needle  ss or bm

5 metal lipped swimmer bm or ccw

That's way more than 5

My homemade bucktails usually always out fish everything in the truck!!

a. Minnow- Sp, Bomber, Redfin, Mucho sized to match prevalent bait

b. Mag Darter

c. Needlefish

d. Metal lipped swimmer

e. Jig Head with plastic

which comes out first is dependent on bait present. Poppers or metal might replace one of the five if conditions warrant.

The bucktails are really nothing special. I use smiling bill, popeye, and round head do it molds. There all altered to use beefier hooks all mustard. Powder coated white or black, tied with varying amounts of hair/saddle hackle depending on conditions and where I'm fishing. I mentioned bucktails repeatedly because with the thousands and thousands of dollars I've spent on custom plugs and altering plugs and building my own plugs. Every year bucktails account for more fish. Maybe it's a confidence thing but hell do what works

Hmmm, if I could only fish with 5 plugs like in the old days what would they be?

Atom 40

Danny  6" surface in white

Danny 6" troller in rainbow

Rebel 5" Windcheater

Kastmaster with tag

Lately:

SP minnow

Hab's Needlefish dark color

BM jointed swimmer in black for dusk and dawn

Vision Surf Eel in black mullet

Charlie Graves tins in 100% tin with hackles

and if I could all of the above in one surfbag.
