ROSENSTEIN CANCELS CAPITOL HILL METTINGS?!

Apparently Rod Rosenstein has canceled his scheduled meeting on Capitol Hill today, why?

Apparently testimony by Jim Bakker, not the old Jim Bakker but the department of justice attorney, earlier this week said somethings that are inconvenient for Rosenstein.

Also being reported that Congress wanted him to testify under oath, rather than have an informational discussion.

So what is it that was said that has Rosenstein so concerned at this point?

You're under arrest?  Anything you say may be used against you? etc

Oops, HuffPo reporting:

The FBI’s former top lawyer reportedly told congressional officials in closed-door testimony that he’d considered Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s suggestion about secretly recording President Donald Trump to be “no laughing matter” — contradicting the claim, touted by the Justice Department and the Trump administration, that Rosenstein’s remark had been made “sarcastically.”

As first reported by Fox News, James Baker, the FBI’s former general counsel, was questioned last week by congressional investigators from the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees. The attorney’s interview was part of Republicans’ investigation into whether anti-Trump bias had tainted the bureau’s probe into Russian election meddling.

Oops, CNN reporting:

McCabe and Rosenstein quarreled over recusals in front of Mueller

(CNN) — In the aftermath of James Comey's firing as FBI director in May 2017, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had a heated confrontation about who should recuse themselves from the Russia investigation in front of special counsel Robert Mueller, according to a source briefed on the matter.

Both men were convinced that the other was damaged by the events that had transpired and should step aside from the Russia investigation, according to multiple sources.

In the meeting with Mueller shortly after he was appointed special counsel to lead the Russia probe, Rosenstein pointed to the fact that years before, McCabe wore a campaign T-shirt in a family picture supporting his wife's bid for state senate, the source said. On the presidential campaign trail, President Donald Trump had repeatedly pointed to Democratic super PAC political donations to Jill McCabe's campaign as evidence of McCabe's political bias, and Rosenstein used the T-shirt photo as grounds for why a recusal may be necessary.

In turn, McCabe, who became the acting FBI director after Comey was ousted, was particularly disturbed by the circumstances surrounding Comey's firing and Rosenstein's role in the episode, aggressively pushing him to recuse in the days that followed, as CNN has reported.

Overall, there was significant mistrust on both sides while tensions were high in May 2017, and sources suggested to CNN this suspicion colored the conversations that are now documented in contemporaneous notes McCabe handed over to Mueller.

Congress wanted him on the record, RR wanted a 1:1 meeting with Goodlatte, off the record, not recorded, not sworn.

Only potential liars have to worry about getting caught in lies.

So is that why Trump won't sit down with Mueller?

Its not true that only liars have anything to fear.

We can't let that little chestnut just slip on by unchallenged.

A fully truthful person can tell full truth... under oath... faced with a hostile scum lawyer ...

and all the scum has to do is get a liar to contradict the truth teller under oath and the fun beings...

the perjury trap is sprung... game on... many dollars spent... many stupid MSM articles written...

This is Trumps issue with Mueller.  As it should be.

Disagree. As river raider said, his lying is a big part of it. His council knows trump will walk into a 'trap', regardless of the questioning,  because he can't help but lie and conflate just about everything and anything.
