Has anyone used this ramp in Old Lyme? is there a channel deep enough to get out to the sound? launching a 17ft aluminum boat....didn't find much info online just some kayakers that use it.

I launched a kayak from there couple years ago, there is a channel of sorts you can navigate but the bigger concern is the RR bridge you need to pass under. If you have a t-top, could be sketchy. Keep your rods low and you should sail right through.

You should be ok. Like Good2Go said, watch anything tall passing under the bridge at high tide. It's actually easier to navigate at low tide because you can see the channel, which curves to the left once you move away from the ramp. There are a few stakes that serve as channel markers.

I see 15-18ft boats launching there all the time, just don't go at dead low I hit bottom with the kayak sometimes.

Observing this from Rocky Neck   I’ll say that there are times when this is a really busy launch point. Given sunny warm weather, there is a steady stream of boats going through there.

Ya I have seen the parking lot packed before it’s a popular spot
