The purpose is to blend together all reports in a portal so they are easy to access into one file. There's been so much good input shared here. Thanks for your contributions. foxfai
All morning there were bones and albies around the jetty I fish. People were there before dawn. Boats were all around and idiots likes to run over the bones near shore to get some where hurry and kept chasing them away from shore. Bait of the day was 2 inch silverside. There were loads. Seabass, fluke, sea robin, abies and bones were on them. No striper or blues to be found. Peanut bunker were hiding in the bay, nothing want to deal with them. whitey
I laugh at the Gas the Boats use gassing it back and forth for a fish you Cant Eat . I heard that the guys on shore are doing the same running across Rocks . Good way to lose a Ankle , Knee or that Face Plant for a entire new grill . For something you can't eat . I fish in a well known area they are at and Taylor hasn't made a song about me Yet . I will sea bass fish and the mob shows up and then runs . Roughly 5 Minutes the water around me lights up and here come the boats again . They are Human Sea Gulls in my eyes . I guess you should laugh at every boat owner spending thousands of $$$$ every year chasing fish they can eat instead of spending their money at the best sea food restaurants and keeping the change. mikez2
The only thing growing faster than the seal population is numbers of anglers targeting false albacore. When I came up in the late 80s almost no one targeted them. In fact, if a school started busting near by you might hear a surf caster tell his buddy "quit casting you dummy, it's only bonito. Can't eat em" (everything was called bonito back then). Two things changed that; saltwater flyfishing took off and right around then internet boards took off. I think RT was the second board I ever joined, like '98ish. Flyfishermen made albies popular and the web spread the word. After that, spincasters cracked the code and suddenly you saw 200 guys on the west wall RI on a Sunday morning. Now complicated by blues and stripers not being what they should and the Youtube generation sharing vid.

I and some friends used to target them off of the bluefish boats in Sheepshead bay during the 60s ====Mako Mike====Makomania SportfishingPt. Most surf casters had trouble hooking them on the heavier lines and big plugs. It used to be entertaining to watch people bomb breaking albies with huge orange poppers on steel leaders for hours without a sniff. Watch Hill light was famous for that. Speaking of which, I hadn't been down there in years but recently visited on a flat bluebird day in Oct. Holy Fin' ****e! I never saw so many boats on top of that area. I don't ever remember that many boats stacked so close, running all over each other when bass or blues were blitzing there.
HugeDinghy
Albies are the most overrated fish around here.
rwilhelm
I took last Friday off from work so I figured it won't be that busy since it is a weekday. Wrong quite crowded for a weekday. The Albie craze is on no question.
Kooky
I love the albie craze! I dont generally fish for them and everyone stops paying attention to bass, unless they are mixed in schools and blitzing during day! Back to peace and quiet at night ^^ I didnt even notice it didnt get censored, I guess anal is acceptable in SOL....

albacized
While I had a fleeting moment of good luck yesterday looking for albies (see photo below), it was actually very sporadic...I had 4 shots in perhaps 3 hours or so, and only saw them perhaps a half dozen times outside my range. The bait situation is good though. If these show up in force, they're going to eat well. Also, I didn't get a single bump while throwing into fish that were actively busting. The one I got was from an opportunity where I saw a swirl in cruising mode...so while it's hard to say conclusively from a single moment of success, the impression I had was if you could get a lure (or fly in my case) in front of them while they were on the move (and not actively blitzing), you had a better chance

Don't expect these jumbo albies to be around the walls. You typical get a smaller size fish. Nothing flies by me without a hook! If my fly is down, That's a good thing. rst3
Another strong cold front passing through at dawn today. Unlike Saturday's, which had SW winds before a sunrise flip to W then NW, this was a heavy backdoor cold front coming in from the NE. Sustained winds ramped up quick from 12 to 26kts NE between 3&9am. Charged up (but still clean) water had albacore going bonkers way out in boat town. No love in close for shore fisherman. The schools stayed out of range. At least when I was there. Boaters might've had a good time but only saw one out there due to small craft conditions. (Could always drop the sissy bars on your 18 bowrider to get on these fish in any washing machine seas :) Made the move to a more sheltered location in hopes fish would be closer. Dud. A few small pods running the shoreline. Popped up for a second now and then but no sustained blitzes or feeds. Should've stuck it out with the riled up fish even though they were far off Fishing kills me exactly as it keeps me alive.
