Gas fires in Lawrence/Andover?

92 posts in this topic

Just heard this on the news. As many as 50 fires due to "overpressurized lines" and a number of evacuations. Anyone here in the area that can shed further light on this? Thoughts and prayers sent...

Apparently Columbia Gas is the supplier and they are telling everyone in the area who uses that supplier to evacuate immediately.

Holy ****. Being a Plumber and gas fitter they must have elevated the main. You only have about a 1/2 pound coming into your house. Anything higher is considered high pressure. If the PRV fails to work you will get explosions like this. This is about as biggest of a **** up you can have from a Gas Utility.

Wow

How do firefighters respond to that many alarms at the same time??!!

Thank god it’s not windy (at least where I am) or this could become even more catastrophic.

The guy turning off people’s gas deserves a parade.

News showed a Statie running from house to house with a monkey wrench shutting off service.

They issued an evacuation order for Andover.

Where does a town go?

Not very far. Reported grid lock on Rte 93 near Dascomb Rd and they've closed several exit ramps coming off of 495 in Lawrence/Andover.
