Eel blood

8 posts in this topic

The toxin in eel blood is destroyed by cooking, and your digestive process if ingested.  So, unless you're injecting eel blood into yourself, you'll be fine.

I have never heard of this before, can you elaborate? What kind of eel?

Ok i just looked up, if you cooked them up shouldnt be any problem. I think only direct ingestion may cause complication.

Eel is poisonous to humans. Never heard of a fisherman dying from handling one though.

Fishermen have lotsa wounds (open/healing) on their hands from fishing. Cross contamination is something to keep in mind. Especially if the eel is bleeding.

As far as eating it goes, very often food isn't cooked all the way. Eating it is like playing with fire if you ask me. But hey... People eat swine too.

you're more likely to get sick from eating chicken than pork.
