Weather Outlook For the Shootout

Good luck and be careful up here guys. My Bonito trip south is in jeopardy. Have to get up early and look at forecast and make a last minute call.

They are calling for NE wind from late Saturday-Sunday. It's going to get real choppy and with the risk of Tstorms all weekend you may want to keep your launches short and look for places to ditch if T-storms roll in. Plan ahead.  All common sense stuff....If around Salem Harbor and Danvers River, a strong NE wind can chop up that area in 3' chop in an instant. Add in some rollers and it sucks even worse.

If NE wind is tough late Saturday-Sunday You can always launch over at Manchester and get some protection. Some sections of  Annisquam River may be worth a short if the wind comes ENE. If it's NNE forget about it. If I can think of any other areas with NE wind protection I will post. Feel free to PM me if you guys are struggling. We can find some safer water for you all to fish.

Be safe and have fun!

Another section to fish is in Winthrop to get out of the NE wind. You can jump the wall and park in Deer Island Parking lot and try to scope out some pogies here. The inside of the Harbor at Deer Island, along Winthrop to Snake Island will off further NE wind protection and looks at pogies/bunker. Bring snaggers. You can troll a tube anywhere around there and birds can pop up here and there. People from all levels can fish here. The caution area is the rip at Deer Island at the end of Deer Island treatment plant. With a NE wind and outgoing tide you can have dangerous waves here.

I'll post a map.

Black Circle is Snake Island, Red Circle is Parking Lot at Deer Island Tafts Ave., Blue Circles is The Rip (caution).

Another area to launch where these are many schools of Pogies/Bunker and will offer some protection is over under the Tobin Bridge in Charlestown. Any one of these Rivers can have a a school of pogies or bunker milling about and may have some decent bass on em.

Map will show ramp under the Tobin Bridge. Pretty safe ramp just don't leave valuables out.

Blue will show you where pogies/bunker hang and red is where you will most likely see em. If one pod doesn't have bass, go to the next pod. Same drill as NY/NJ.

Screaming!  The bay is white capped.  Took 10 minutes on the approaching front.  NNW will swap around NNE.

Ducking for cover

That's bad Ju ju with the skunk!

This front will blow NW and then turn around semi hard NE making fishing in our SW facing protected shorelines, impossible tonight and Sunday. Been a strange year fishing this year up here.
