KastKing Stealth Baitcaster?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Just purchased a new KastKing Stealth baitcaster.  I bought it for $48.

Anyone have any insight to this reel?

I'll be pairing it up with a 7' Quantum Escalade HD rod rated, Med-Hvy, lure wt- 1/4-1 1/2, line wt -10-25

This is my 1st bait caster to actually start learning how to use them.

When I first tried to learn to use a bait caster, I was using a very cheap (50-70$) combo. This was probably the most frustrating process ever, as the braking system was junk so I was always back lashing or could get no distance. If you have similar problems after months of using it, I would try a midrange reel such as the Diawa tatula which will allow you to actually learn how to cast. I have used all the major brands, shimano, abugarcia, lews, okuma, 13. The daiwa braking system is the most forgiving especially with light and weightless baits. The abus, lews, and 13 can all launch bombs into orbit, and shimano is probably the smoothest out of the box.

Daiwa Fuego CT, <70 bucks on the bay.

And now Shimano came out with an alum framed caster MSRP under 100 bucks...zero reason to look at kastking.

Unless you loathe anything and everything with "Shimano" on it.

Be it fishing gear or bicycle components, I refuse to own anything "Shimano".

A new Shimano rear derailleur imploded on me once, resulting in a 15 mile walk.

A one month old Shimano spinning real stripped the main gear with a frigging bluegill on the hook.

I don't trust Shimano.
