Vacation on bay just south of Cape Charles and wondering about fishing opportunities? Plan on fishing the beach and using kayaks.

Any recommendations?

You should have the whole gamut open for you, from Flounder. Reds, Trout, Cobia, Sheepshead.

You are in a mecca.

It is just a question how far you want to paddle/ haul the yaks.

Kiptopeake, and the concrete ships are worth a trip, and a short hop from where you are staying.

I used to kayak fish similar waters a bit further south of there.   Two rods:  One with a red 1/8oz Blue Water Candy jighead and white Gulp 4" shrimp, the other with a MirroLure 17MR in whatever color catches your eye (I liked the 808 and 26).  Between those two you'll catch almost anything that swims in those waters.

Using the kayak we caught some keeper size flounder around the concrete ships, lots of small croaker and small sea bass. Not much action off the beach near the house. Water was very shallow with mutiple bars all the way out beyond casting range.

Had a great time, Cape Charles is a nice place
