I am going to build a batch of Conrad jrs and peanuts. I have read this is a very good plug for a eel skin so I want to give them a go but Everything I read said the lip style was important on this plug and no commercially available ones very accurate. Others had substituted other style lips for there build but I wanted one like the original so I would make them. I found detailed

drawings of the lips and all 3 size plugs online thanks Prof M/ SP. here’s how I did it3B27FEBF-27C3-444E-9D49-F9148F74289A.thumb.jpeg.032c5310754d0c2f2cdfd833fbe500ba.jpegI measured out width and clamped a straight edge down and scored a line then cut a strip offE8348513-88CB-4215-A1D9-E3944C432BC0.thumb.jpeg.0c735850bf7b6fc3ed6cb732b46a4947.jpegcut to length 8B1C2999-A865-4405-9121-0485C699EF52.thumb.jpeg.db61d30e5e10059594b97751c70a4908.jpeglaid out for bends and lip slot the blue sharpie makes the lines stand out021D04E7-1716-4C23-A633-D41092DA2D9A.thumb.jpeg.dee64a000ba63fc809c18d66c483874c.jpegused a little hand punch to make the slot for the line tie476B02B1-83A5-4115-8365-F245E5CF5C76.thumb.jpeg.6cb0dc2ecfe318a08db2e6a853f0a24b.jpegI did clamp the stack together and rounded the front of the lip forgot to get a pic of that to make the bend I put it in the vise on the scribe line985E4FFB-E2CD-4648-BEB1-98C3A0B6BEC9.thumb.jpeg.298d6e143045e72a612722f2045c6140.jpegthen bent it over and tapped it with a scrap chunk and hammer5DDF572C-20B1-41CF-A1D5-D4FCC4666B64.thumb.jpeg.70d79f744bc3d973a734dc3a18b4f860.jpegflipped it around in vise on other line80C1F8B2-BCDB-4E8A-8A7D-66DBC3CB79E4.thumb.jpeg.f8b5b0d3b447ad00c023ca3ad6ffd481.jpegthen used a thinner bar to bend the lower angleB0F4FF37-6561-449A-A513-961CC3952F38.thumb.jpeg.a6649f6e94186e0a6f7f3fef6cab07d1.jpegB24AC621-7A90-496B-9310-85A166EC5965.thumb.jpeg.6125bc69e13508252483cd60ee64468c.jpegand the finished product I could not find any info on what the angle should be on the lower bend so I may have to tweek them not sure yet96D7CD16-DED1-478B-9A13-0C69F19B3F44.thumb.jpeg.19b16f2151d6a84685da15f7bd6892dc.jpegended up making 6 of each overall not as bad as I though it would be don’t think I will make all my lips but good to know you can if needed anyone have any suggestions love to hear it I will post pics as the plugs come along thanks guys Don

I definitely will. What is the thickness for the stainless steel sheet?

Looks good to me. I just made 50 this past week. Lip slots still need to be done though but all bent. I am thinking about quitting my job by summers end so I am trying to get lifetime supplies of all the stuff I make done by then.

Very nice why do you make the slots last? Are you milling them or punching them? I saw different pics with the side bent up like that should a true Conrad lip be done that way? I need to get my shear working I have a small Beverly shear I just picked up but didn’t want to cut don’t know if blades need aligned better or what and a little diacra guillotine shear I got at the scrape yard it had a piece of broken linkage it would make it a lot easier and that much more consistent
