BFThunter
I've done it with a few sockets in a large vice but it's much easier with the tool- pretty sure Auto Zone loans them out. Both on my 1988 1500 P/U and 1997 Tahoe.
Dave588
I have autozone loaner tool. I soaked in pb blaster. I was wondering if i was doing it wrong but it just started moving.
pd07
I don’t want to sound like an A hole, but you did take the lock rings out, correct. Some are inside the cross, some outside. Just did my 68 impala driveshaft, used the socket method.
Dave588
I took lock rings out first. Then i unbolted saddles on axle yoke. The axle side is not budging. The tail shaft side i have pressed u joints mostly out. I was just using a socket to tap on axle side. I want to drop driveshaft but that seems to be toughest part. Grayson
You need to heat the joint up and burn the glue out of it, wear glasses and gloves **** hurts to get on you. The $35 dollar oxy/gas torch from home Depot works good if doing it under vehicle, easier to pull the drive shaft and hit it with a ball joint press. What brand replacement joint did you get? Dave588
I have driveshaft out. The new u joints were wrong ones. Fit front. I ordered spicer 5-1410 so truck is sitting.

Regular propane torch gets hot enough to melt it. You can break plastic by pressing them out but at risk of distorting ears in yokes. P.S.,hope this is not your plow truck... Shadhead
You'll get it and satisfaction follows. I hate them greasy pigs. About as much fun as a braid slice on my casting finger. Fishing is a delusion entirely surrounded by liars in old clothes.
