Seems that Every time I look at a forecast it gets worse.  I’m done.  It will be what it will be.  At least I’m home for this one.  Was supposed to travel tomorrow for work but ain’t gonna happen.  Got stuck in FL for the early January storm AND the last one on 3/2.

12-18" of heart attack snow.

I live 350 miles south of the Arctic Circle, and we haven't had 12-18 total all ****ing winter.

Wow.   When the birth place of my grandfather is seeing those types of numbers for snowfall, I'm now a believer in global warming.   Back to our situation with this Noreaster, my town's forecast for big numbers of snow is another slap in the face that Spring is going to take a while.   The media is saying it's going to be a light snow, not sloppy and wet.   Let's hope they're right.

Ya, light fluffy snow makes all the difference.

Yup. Trend has definitely been for greater suckage with each passing hour. Unfortunately, the suckage meter continued to climb today.

Classic South Shore/Cape Cod crush job: Storm is just far enough away that the usual warm punch that mixes/lowers totals on Cape stays over water. And storm is large, throwing back a lot of moisture into a dynamic setup over the Cape.

EURO totals map is up from earlier

7am whiteout.

Travel difficult at best. Horrific commute

Over 2" precipitable water in jackpot zone. At 10:1 snow||water ratios.... ouch. that math is awful.

Odds of a foot?

Eh. Somewhat high:fire:

I have a cardiac cath at tufts in the morning. Everyone else cancelled so I'm the only one coming in. My dad wants to go in tonight and stay at a Marriott, I don't sleep well at hotels without casinos.  So if we leave Sagamore at 6am we are in for a real bad commute? Should I go in tonight or is 6am ahead of crap?

Most of us have 4WD and big-ass brakes. Not good enough, in a major snow event.  Do you really want to  risk having to shovel yourself out if you slide into a drift, the day of a cardiac catheterization?  Do you think that your vehicle makes you immune to other people's mistakes on the road?

Bring a deck of cards and play with your father, if gamble you must.

I came within a whisker of disaster, many years ago, when my Explorer was still new and the 4x4 actually worked. Someone lost control while powering past me on a snowy access road, to the Long Island Expressway.

it merely says something about our own need to be critical.

Sorry I didn't get back earlier. 6am is borderline for the "bad" conditions. IIRC, you're on the south shore?

Even if weather conditions not totally ridiculous quite yet, commute traffic will likely be tough and very slow heading north on 3 at that time. Obviously you cant leave at 2am and then sit around Boston for hours before your appt.. but if you choose to drive in tomorrow morning, maybe consider leaving earlier than 6. Would help with somewhat lighter conditions, and traffic would be marginally less.

In all seriousness I genuinely wish you the best for your medical procedure. You're too good a writer and fisherman(besides the obv more important father family things) to punch out early.

Man, be careful! Go in tonight you won’t be able to travel safely tomorrow. Good luck!

Good luck with the procedure, FEW.
