Slight gas smell inside dryer

If you had called the gas company because of a leak they could have placed a lock on the meter. Now in order to remove the lock a licensed plumber would need to pull a permit, do the repairs then the city/town inspector will inspect the work and place a certain colored tag on the meter for the gas company remove the lock.

^^ not true. They would just shut off the appliance in question and tag that. Unless there's house piping leaking which is unable to be turned off without shutting off the entire house. That's the only time they would shut off the valve at the meter.

Different states different procedures, just because it’s done one way in NJ doesn’t make what was written untrue.
