I suspect you can fish shadow lines around bridges and piers with much the same profit as in the northeast, but I don't know that from experience.  Let's hear from those of you who have done this.  

When I used to fish the Martha's Vineyard Fly Tournament at night we all used black flies. They provide the most contrast against any light above and we always did well with them.
