Regulations in Dominican Republic

I am going to Punta Cana the end of February and plan on doing some surf fishing. It is my understanding that I do not need a fishing license.

Are there fishing regulations I need to know about?  If so where can I find them?

Also heading down there in Feb. and planning on bringing a surf rod.  I have seen on other threads that lic is not needed from shore but not sure if anything has changed.

Consult the chamber of commerce, governmental entity, American embassy, or contact a local fishing guide/outfitter. Had the same lack of info in several Caribbean destinations over the years.

I just came back from DR and did some fishing there.  From my research it appears that you do not need license for surf fishing.  Saw other tourists casting in a touristy area, also without a license.  But ymmv.  Do the research.  Better yet, take a fishing boat.  I paid 150 for a 4-hour trip and got a giant barracuda and wahoos.
