Why Doesn’t Mueller Want to Question Pence?

Rate this topic

Article today suggesting that someone close to Pence is pointing out that Mueller has not shown any recent interest in questioning VP Pence? Given Pence has been around for so much of the time and locations where all the “collusion” and other chit is supposed to have occurred, what gives? Mueller has wood to get Trump in the spotlight, why not Pence?

Pence for the most part probably was totally unaware of what is going on by all of the shady folks around Trump and there are lots of them. Pence had no idea about Flynn and I am pretty sure was not invited by don jr and jared with their shady meetings with the Russians that they" forgot "about

How do you know he doesn't want to?   What we, or anyone for that matter, know about what Mueller is going to do is probably only a tip of the iceberg.

Pence is the heir apparent.

^^^ That’s where I am. That Mueller et al think that if they are successful in taking Trump down, they have to have a smooth assumption of the throne. If they bring in Pence and catch him in a process faux pas, then what? Constitutional crisis? Civil war?

I don’t buy the entire “Pence was too far removed” argument being made above. An investigator will bring in anyone who can verify their charges. Bringing in Pence and asking him if he felt he was being intentionally kept out of meeting of “the conspirators” can bolster the argument that a conspiracy was affoot. Or ask him about thing he overheard. Or what his opinion was of various thing.  The Left seems to put quite a bit of credence in Bannon’s opinions about the Tower meeting about the Maginsky Act, why not get Pence’s opinion too? Bannon wa snot around then but his opinion seems to have relevance, why not Pence?

The effort to get Trump on the record is a trap, given they have little or nothing else at this point. They are targeting Trump, not Pence, thus no desire to bring Pence in to get him to process himself into a charge.

The person close to Pence being quoted on this says that other than a loose suggestion early in 2017, Pence has heard nothing since then. The desire to bring in the President is certainly out there, why not Pence.

You are correct, we don’t know, but the lack of interest is inconsistent with the noise on getting Trump on the record.

It’s cute how you casually besmirch Meueller here.

War hero with impeccable credentials.

Besmirch? Was the word “successful” poorly chosen?

This is a binary outcome. Either Trump is more or less exonerated of any serious wrongdoing, or he is going to be charged which could/should lead to the end of his presidency. Anything in between is not worth discussing because that will fall along partisan lines and Trump will be a wounded chief exec, though not mortally so. Thus, the only way Pence is potentially going to rise to the POTUS is if Trump is dethroned successfully. If that adverb carries too much suggested intent for you, replace with something less onerous .

Absolutely he does.

You can't win a chess match by only knocking off pawns.

You can win a chess match in as little as 2 moves, without taking even 1 piece.

That's racist!

You can only do that if you are black.

And you still need to take 1 piece.
