What TV Shows or Movies Could Not Get Made Today?

This was a discussion last weekend with our 17 year old and two of his friends. We were discussing TV shows or movies that could not be made today in this politically correct environment. I was quite impressed with these young men’s knowledge of entertainment that was created when they were little or even before they were born.

The criteria is movies/show that could not be made with the same movie/script/theme/casting. For example, the original “Ghostbusters” would find a difficult time being made today but the female-dominated reboot could be made with major alterations to the original.

A partial list that we came up with:

M*A*S*H (both movie and TV show)

All in the Family

Blazing Saddles

Porkies

Revenge of the Nerds

Animal House

Three’s Company

Red Dawn

Warriors

This is a partial list, less than a third of those that were thrown out at the table. What can you add?

Depends who makes them, Quentin Tarantino can make anything he wants.

The Hateful 8. and Django Unchained use the N-word hundreds of times, a conservative would never be permitted to do that.

Oh, and the Little Rascals. My sons loved the tapes at different points in their lives. Was a good view of what “life” was like back then, or at least Hal Roach’s view of it.

Weird Science

where they design their "ideal woman" and surprise... she does not look like Triggly Puff

But she did look like Steven Seagal’s ex-wife, the Pantene Kelly LeBrock. Good choice on the boys’ part.
