How do you get around the whole legality thing of you and your nephew killing more than your limit? Does knowing a commercial fisherman change the laws for you and him?

Show someone how to catch striped bass and they'll be ready to fish anywhere.
Show someone where to go striped bass fishing and you'll have a desperate report chaser with loose lips.

in NY the commercial limit is 25 per day, check the photo and count em, 25 fish LEGALLY  taken on a COMMERCIALLY PERMITTED VESSEL. Why the attitude?

Nice fish Jim. You're just part of the crew and legal. Great work if you can get it. Other times, not so great.

It's not an attitude, it's a legitimate question. Are Recreational anglers welcome to kill 25 blackfish per day if they are on a commercially permitted vessel? I thought only commercial fishermen could fill their quota, I had no idea it was legal for them to bring anyone they wanted and let those people kill more than their legal limit and give them to the boat - I don't think that would fly in NJ.

Unrelated question - you guys don't have tags for blackfish the way you do for stripers?

a crewmember on a  commercial vessel helps harvest fish , on a pinhooking trip the crew helps harves fish with rod and reel. The vessel under discussion is not  private or for hire but a straight up commercial vessel. New York does not have a tag system for tog, just bass.

Is that 25 per vessel or per crew member?

Also, is it just a coincidence that you seem to be harvesting large males, or do you guys release the big females?

...... , big mommas are usually released depending on condition ,....

That is a discrimination

Male lives don't matter.

Bad day fishing is still much better than good day work.
