Yes, I wasn't ready for all of these responses so I'm taking down notes! Certainly do not have all the money to buy all of these at once haha

Dont get just any popper. If I just had to have one its the super strike 2 3/8 oz sinking popper. you can swim it or pop it. good luck

All jokes aside, I believe that plug is a Storm Thundermac. they stopped making them like 10+ years ago. Awesome lure. I caught a lot of fish on that plug growing up (obviously minus the sinker, clam, swivel, etc)

SP Minnow, Bucktail, Metal (deadly dick, ava,t hex etc), Popper. With those  you can do a lot. Colors and sizes are a different topic.  Get a couple of things and see what your comfortable with, and have good fortune with.....then go from there.

If I would have to pick two for bass and blues. A deadly dick, and a sp minnow. They can be had at some big box stores for around 7 bucks each. When/if fluke show up, you may need to get something else.

All great recommendations here ! If I could have done one thing different when I was just starting out I would have tried to master bucktails as much as possible. A lot of new guys skip over this lure because it’s not shiny and new looking with trebles everywhere. No other plug can cover every condition like the bucktail. Consider this “ when cast up current and retrieved it does a swing 180 degree turn and flutters”. Deadly!  Also, you can do things with mono on a bucktail that braid never could.

Black Mag Darter at night is my go too lure

but for some reason the paint wears off. Doesn't happen with the other colors?

Super Strike Needlefish at night.  Black.  Retrieved painfully slow.  When you think your retrieve is too slow, slow it down some more.

I also like to have a metal lip Danny type in the bag especially at day break.  Something about snaking one slowly  through the foam seems to get the attention of bass early in the morning.
