club VHF channel

just curiosity,  is there a common radio channel we'll use to talk to each other if we happen in the same area? I certainly hope we could stay connected that way on the water, to know each other, and improve safety. It'll benefit all of us.  --Bruce

Problem with 71 is people speaking foreign languages decided to use it for there own private conversations. If you dont speak English and wish to hold a private conversation than you should take your conversation to cell phones. Pretty ignorant to all the people trying to stay in touch with each other when this constant babble goes on endlessly in rariton bay.

There are 3 channels available for general communication between boats that we can use: 68, 69 and 71.

When I'm with people we usually just pick one at the start of fishing.  If there is too much chatter, we switch to another.

On some radios you can set up a scan to just scan those 3 if you want.
