Obama set race relations back 50 years.  All that progress made back in the 60's, ruined by the First Black POTUS.  It really is like he did it on purpose.

And "open borders" Hillary?  Come on, why not just openly admit you (she) want to see the death of American Culture?

And Bernie?  Come on man, we're a Democracy.  Bernie is an open Socialist.  Talk about changing our culture!

Why did Obama, his policies and governing, set back race relations? Because of BLM and cop shootings? Don’t conflate issues that happened during his tenure with things he was responsible for “on his watch”. I honestly think he pretty carefully tried to not let issues of his ethnicity define his policies. Trust me, plenty of African American political thinkers were supremely disappointed in Obama. Cornell West for one.

Open borders / Hillary. Why do you think these things add up to the “death of American” culture? I’m asking 100% honestly. Immigration has defined this country. Inside the law and outside it. The permissiveness of entry into the country has largely been tied to the needs of industry for cheap exploitable labor. Most recently the meat packing industry  was caught actually bussing in Mexicans and housing them in homeless shelters at public expense. But the political winds shifted even further and they are even more valuable now to vilify and blame economic old on. Do I want MS13 here? Hell no. But I certainly believe we are all people sharing the same planet and tribalism and artificial boundaries don’t help the exchange between nations of hard working aspirational people.

As for Bernie & socialism, we need a deep unpacking of loaded terms. Bernie doesn’t want to collectivize agriculture and give you two choices in crappy automobiles. And he certainly doesn’t advocate a dictatorship to affect changes. But some enterprises such as security, education and healthcare need a cooperative approach to funding & management to assure equitable access & to make an investment in the nations future.

There, fair answers to questions asked fairly. I ask in return, does Trumps push to a Putin style oligarchy not represent a more clear destruction of the American culture? To destroy free press, question the validity of an election, disregard nepotism ethics and the emoluments clause, break with long standing partners & allies across the globe, tacitly stand by white supremecists, are those not the signs of a tectonic shift in culture?

Hateful and lonely.

Actually there are a TON of us in this Albanian basement / FSB disinformation center. Sometimes we break out in dance with too much vodka. Comrade Putin tasked me to specifically rile up the SOL crowd because I had the background chucking bombers and salty bugger plugs on the NoMoCo rock piles :-)

"If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon."  "The Cambridge police acted stupidly."  With those 2 quotes, Obama gave birth to BLM.  He could have very easily come out and stated that Zimmerman/Martin had nothing to do with police, and that the Cambridge incident was much ado about nothing, but instead, he turned both incidents into major racial issues.

Why do I blame Hillary, open borders, and the Left for the death of AMERICAN culture?  Let's simply quote you: "I certainly believe we are all people sharing the same planet and tribalism and artificial boundaries don’t help the exchange between nations of hard working aspirational people."  LEGAL immigrants used to come here to "be American."  You can't possibly tell me that tens/hundreds of Syrian refugees have any intention of assimilating into American culture.

Socialism...... There is a difference between a "cooperative approach," and the Socialism (in some cases, actual Communism) that the Left is advocating.

Trump:

- Is not moving us towards Oligarchy.  No way.  Do keep in mind though that it was Obama that weaponized the IRS.

- Destroy Free Press?  No.  But he absolutely does brutally call out bias.

- Questioning the election?  In case you missed it, that is the Left 24x7 since they lost.  Russia!

- Nepotism?  Hey, he thinks more of his family's abilities than he does of the rest of us.  Gotta keep an eye on that.

- Emoluments? Gotta keep an eye on that one too.

- Breaking with allies?  No.  But making them carry their share of the load for a change, yes.

- Tacit Support of White Supremists?  Well, Obama had BLM, Trump has the Nazis.  You tell me which group is burning towns and blocking roads.

That’s comrade jack to you buddy. Hey I offered to debate but you declined. Suit yourself.

I see no need to engage in "debate" with someone who has a higher regard for Che Guevara than a typical American gun owner.

I know exactly who you are, but sadly the personal attack rules we have here preclude me from going any further.

You make some valid points, but I would ask you to consider this...............

When the nation became "great" (say, mid-1800s - mid-1900s?), the people had values that would be considered EXTREME Right.

The nation is on the decline now, and it noticeably began in the late 1960s with Liberalism taking over, growing, and blossoming into a full blown "Progressive" agenda.

The sad truth is that the further we move away from Extreme Righty values, the more the country declines.

That notion of greatness is of course enormously subjective. I have to make certain assumptions to answer you. Great as in “powerful”? Remember, the world wars decimated the world order that preceded it. The US & USSR emerged as preminant victors, both nuclear powers with global reach, the distinction being the USSR was saddled with reconstruction of their homeland and an unworkable economic & governance system over the long term. The US, however was possessed of some very progressive values. The labor movement and recovery from the depression had led to a very high quality of life for many, a reasonable distribution of wealth & the expectation of upward mobility through education. Progressive ideals had set social safety nets such as social security. Public education was good. I would define none of that as extreme right or left. Just rational conclusions coupled with the hard work of labor leaders and the circumstances of a post European, emerging post colonial world. Of course I’m leaving out the status of black people, the beginning of ideologically driven conflict (Korea and Vietnam), the dangers of nuclear war and the rampant pollution that characterized the era, but we can start with the perspective that the 50’s represented a period of certain American preeminence. So what’s charged? Lots of things. For one our position relative to what was the developing world now places us as competitors at the global level with nations such as China & India. The USSR collapsed but Russia has recovered much of its European & Asian influence in large part due to surging global demand for oil. Perhaps most concerning is our transition from a manufacturing nation to a consumer nation. Now allot of corners were cut in India & China & elsewhere coupled with American globalist policies supported from left & right for different reasons. But ultimately, we are a shell of a superpower. We pour capital into the military with little ROI, instead of a balanced investment in education, infrastructure & the renewal of a new manufacturing base. That makes us a very dangerous thing; a nation walking around with a big stick but no “soft power” to back it up.

So I can’t see my way to your characterization of extreme right principles vs a slide to the left. If anything, our liberal principles have made us the greatest. Liberal in the sense of the constitution: life liberty etc. Believe me, the “left” has forgotten some of that too. But traditional issues of morality, etc made us great? China is about to become the most powerful nation on earth and nobody can convince me that is predicated on moral superiority. They eat dogs. The state forces abortion. Not too moral even in this lefties’ book.

What's changed?

No more prayer in schools, but in Kindergarten, they all read "Bobby has two daddies."

Americans chant for dead cops now.

Things like "respect your elders" are not taught any more.

Americans protest their own flag now.

My grandmother used to say "if ya don't work, ya don't eat," but now, we are an entitlement society.

Our women have cut the balls off their men, and stuck them in their own pants.

The concept of being a housewife, which used to be a position of honor, is now viewed as degrading.

God help you if you don't openly cherish all things gay.

Our media now seeks to destroy our military (Abu Grahib) instead of painting them as heros.

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

Never said I held Che Guevara in higher regard than anyone. I said the history his life calls attention to is worth studying. So was Adolf Hitlers’ , for no other reason than to avoid who they were and what they did from recurring, particularly by understanding the forces and events that shaped them. Pretty straight forward. As for “who I am”? Don’t think it’s that exciting, but whatever man.

Then you must be apoplectic about the Italians.  They have their own parade to honor some goomba (Cristoforo Columbo) who was basically a mercenary working for Spain.  They created ghettos called “Little Italy” wherever they settled.  Go to NYC now and the air around Broome and Mulberry is filled with the smell of sausage and zeppoles being cooked in the streets out in the open for one of their “feasts” and don’t forget all the gang violence via the Mafia.  They’re basically North Africans and essentially cousins of the Syrians.  And they’re Catholics, not even Protestants.  Eating spaghetti and meatballs and pizza, they never assimilated to “American culture” either.  You are right, we need people who want to be Americans, not foreigners.

Look man I not only get the point but I understand you more than you might imagine on some issues. I certainly think respect for elders cuts across the political spectrum.  I HATE that the left has allowed social safety nets to be, or be perceived to be entitlements. I think work ethic has degraded and in general I call a bum a bum when I see one. My mom was a housewife and sure as hell I respected her and understand what that means. I don’t demean anyone in the military nor condone it, but by the same token I don’t conflate holding them to high standards with lack of support. I especially think that stringently questioning how & when they are deployed is the highest form of supporting them: they are NOT to be wasted on frivolous or greed driven conflict.  But on many issues I see complexity where I think you see simplicity. For example, my wife, unlike my mother, has to work. That’s an economic reality & I respect her career and life choice. That’s our partnership as we define it and its different than the circumstances of my parents. It doesn’t make me feel like my balls are cut off. She might differ though ;-)

My grandparents came off the boat in the early 1900s.  They named their children Peter, Franklin, Michael, Angelo and Johnathan.  That's what's on the birth certificates, and they called them Pete, Frank, Mike, Jr, and John.  They did NOT name them Pietro, Francesco, Micheli, Angel and whatever Johnathan is in Italian.  They came here and took American names, learned English, flew an American flag in the backyard garden, and were proud to "be American."

So I dispute your theory 100%.
