That's why they call it a migration!  Falling temps move the small bait out of the rivers and bays and points them south along the beach seeking warmer water.  Cold water pulls the predators into the beach to prey on the moving food biomass.  

 

Rising temps will pull the bait and the Predators back north in the spring.

 

It's all about water temparture and the length of a days sunshine.
