Spring and summer vacations

I was thinking of taking a trip next spring and then another one in the summer in search of big striped bass. I don’t need specific spots that I can figure out myself but where would you go to chase monster stripers? There’s montauk, block island, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Cape cod and the canal. I know the canal is probably a good choice for the late summer and I’ve fished it before as well as the outer cape. I need to make the trips as cheap as possible so seedy motels are going to be necessary in these locations   it doesn’t matter though because fishing will be the main objective. No need for sightseeing these are trips to chase cows from the surf. I’ve read a lot about all of these locations but since times have changed I’d like to hear opinions on what is relevant now and not in the past. Tips for times of year would be very useful.

It’s horrifying how expensive lodging is in Montauk. If you book well in advance you save a little, plus it’s become such a tourist town that many of the hotels and motels book quickly.

Don't forget about new jersey either for fall and spring.

Jersey is where I fish all the time. So I will be there this fall and in the spring. I’m just trying to explore some new places in search of bigger fish.

Camp in Edgartown and drive out on East Beach at the Dike Bridge in the late summer. Night shift crew!

Martha’s Vineyard was definitely up there on my list. I unfortunately don’t have an suv to drive on the beach so I’d have to take the hike if there is one. There’s camping there though? That would be awesome to be able to bring a big tent and camp out near the beach and fish every night. So late summer would be the prime time like around August?
