DoorGunner Posted October 8, 2017 Report Share Posted October 8, 2017 One more point. Ryan holds the modern day record for strikeouts in a season. Sandy Koufax had the record at 382 in 1965. Nolan beat him by one 383 in 1973. In 1973 the designated hitter started in the American League. When Koufax struck out 382 he faced many pitchers while Ryan faced nine hitters every game.
